Political extremism has been resurging and growing in America in the past 5 years, brought out from the shadows through heightened polarization and flashpoints of national tension. From leaders of the extreme political left and right we see the incitement of violence and chaos as a tool for their desired social change, along with the same degrading, demeaning language of Trumpism. God is not a god of chaos nor of the taking of power through force. We see the demonization of all who would oppose them – and the dangerous grouping of “kinds” of people who should be cancelled, taken out or even killed. This undermines the image of God in those whom these extremists view as enemies while inciting further verbal and physical violence.
